Intercept mission idea (minor spoilers) LONG post

Postby MNP » Thu Oct 08, 2015 3:30 am

I got this idea when doing the 1337 vs Govement questline. The 1337 cREw is intecepting the Govemet's radio conversations to gain an advantage.
What If you, the player, were able to intercept radio messages the other factions made, to intecept their missions, and using it all to your own advantage.
This is a list of missions that might be made avalible when you intercept a radio message, you get a message yourself, with the name of the faction and what kind of mission is avalible.
They are time limited, and depending on how long it takes to arrive at the destination, there are different possibilities that might happen with each type of mission

Before you can intercept Radio messages, you will need.
1 Radio Station
"Generator Power" (and maybe "Spotting Spies", or a new technology, called "Radio" (more survivors might come to you randomly)
Engineers to man the Radio Station.

Once you got these things, you get 2 new options with the Radio Station(s) on the map
1. Host public radio - You set survivors with high engineering and leadership host public radio channels (engineers to host "more" channel, and leaders to be the "channe hosts")
2. Intercept Faction Radio (what this post is about) - Your Engineers will do all they can to search for and intercept radio messages from the other factions, so you can use it to your own advantage.

As you arrive (the progress bar is finished), you get some options about what to do (you will always have the option to leave, in the first set of choices, unless I write it in the desciption)

I got ideas for 3 kinds of missions, so far.
"Plan of Attack" - A group of [Name of the faction] soldiers is on their way to either clear the pace of zombies, or attack the other faction (factions should be attacking and trading with each other too, instead of only with the player)
"Treasure Hunt" - [Name of the faction] scouts have radio'ed home about a large stash of usefull items at a certain location, if you hurry, you can steal it from right under their noses.
"Back Alley Deal" - The [Name of the faction] have been talking with a non-faction gang about some sort of deal, it's going to happen soon, if we hurry, we can do the deal ourself, or use it to ambush the gang and the [Name of the faction] group.

---------------
FvF means Faction Vs Faction
---------------

"Plan of Attack" - The other faction have send a group of soldiers to this location, to either clear it of zombies, so they can reclaim it (if it's next to their fort) or to attack an other faction.
You can send your own soldiers to either help, attack, ambush or othervise sabotage the other groups mission (you can see one of the factions "soldier's" moving towards the location, when they arrive, they will start their mission)
There are 3 possiblities that can happen as you arrive.

Possibility A - You arrive before the [Name of the faction] soldiers, and you have time to prepare.
-1. Set up Traps - cost 2 traps - Prepare to help the other faction, by setting up traps, to it's easier to kill the zombies / other faction's soldiers. (+respect with the faction you help. and -respect with the faction you fight, if it's an FvF attack)
-2. Lay bait - Cost 2 zombie bait - Only available if it's a kill zombie mission /one faction - Lure even more zombies to the location, your people will leave (no change in respect, but the kill zombies mission will still take place, but there will be a MUCH higher chance that the other faction will fail)
-3. Set up an ambush - scavenger skill - your soldiers hide and waits for the [Name of the faction] group to arrive, when they come, they are going to start the ambush, your soldiers have a much higher chance of wining, compared to normal combat, but they will need skilled scavengers amongs them to help them hide.
--3.1. Faliure - Your soldiers didn't hide well enough, the [Name of the faction] soldiers noticed them, and were smart enough not to walk into your ambush, they went home, and you might as well do the same. (no fight, no change in anything)
--3.2. Minor Victory - The [Name of the faction] soldiers were fast to react when you launched your ambush, it was a long fight, and both you and the [Name of the faction] soldiers had to pull back (small chance of death/injuries, the mission was interrupted and -respect witht the faction)
--3.3. Total Victory - The ambush was a complete success, the [Name of the faction] soldiers didn't know what hit them, and they never will, since they're dead. (No death/injuries and no change in respect, but the faction losses extra strength)

Possibility B - You arrive and see the [Name of the faction] soldiers already busy fighting zombies / assaulting the [Name of the other faction] fort.
-1. Attack the [Name of the faction]'s Soldiers -High danger - You charge the other faction while they are busy killing zombies, making it a 3 ways battle
--1A. Defeat - What were we thinking, fighting both [Name of the faction] soldiers and zombies at the same time? We had to ecsape, or it would have become really ugly, but not without losses (high chance for death/injuries and -respect and -happiness)
-2. Help the attacking faction - Only if FvF - With your combined strength, you help the [Name of the faction] soldiers completeing their mission (+respect with the faction you helped, -respect and -strength with the faction you attacked)
-3. Help the defenders - Only if FvF - You hastly move behind the [Name of the attacking faction]'s soldier and start your attack, surprising them. Getting flanked was not part of their plan, and you make quick work of them (+respect with the faction you helped, -respect and -strength with the faction you attacked)

Possibility C - You are too late, the [Name of the faction] soldiers is finished with their attack and halfways home, nothing to do, other than go home.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Treasure Hunt" - Scouts from the other faction have found a stash of usefull stuff, and now we too know where it is too, if we're fast enough, we can take take it all, before the they do. First come, first served.

Possibility A - You arrived long before everyone else, we had everything packed in moment and there was no sign of the [Name of the faction] when we left. I just wish I could have see their faces when they arrive, and everything is gone. (You get all the loot, no combat and no change in respect)

Possibility B - We arrived before the [Name of the faction] group had everything packed, just as they showed up, what should we do? (no leave option)
-1. Attack the [Name of the faction] group - Danger - We might as well use the element of surprise and attack the [Name of the faction] scavengers.
--1A. Defeat - They packed more firepower that we could have anticipated, we had to leave everything we found behind, and get the hell out of there (chance of death/injuries and -respect)
--1B. Minor Victory - They got scared as soon as we burst out and started attacking them, a few of them tried to fight, but the rest just turned around and ran everything they could (small chance of death/injuries, -respect, gets all the treasure)
---1C. Total Victory - They didn't have a chance, I don't even think half of them realised what happened before it was too late. It was almost too easy. (no death/injuries, no chance in respect, gets all the treasure)
-2. Sneak out - Scavenger skill and bonus if one or more in the group has the ninja perk. - There is no point in making this into a conflict, let's sneak out the back before they see us.
--2A. Failure - As we rounded a cornor, a zombie saw us and knocked over a trashcan, it made so much noise that all the [Name of the faction] scavengers rushed outside to find out what it was, they started shooting as soon as they saw us, we had to drop the loot to get out of there alive, but I don't think they knew who we were (small chance of death/injuries, no change in respect, but no treasure)
--2B. Success - We hurried out the back door, and had it locked behind us before the [Name of the faction] scavengers had even opend the front door. Wish I could see their faces when they find out all their treasure have "magical" disappeared (no death/injuries, no change in respect, gets all the treasure)
-3. Negotiate - Leadership skill - Let's try to persuade them, that it's just a coincidence, that we came found the loot.
--3A - Failure - They didn't buy our story about how we "stumbled", upon the loot only they are suposed to know of, what now?
---3A.1. Attack - High Danger - While [Name of survivor with the most leadership in the group] had stalled the [Name of the faction] scavengers with his/her talk, we prepared for trouble, time to unleash it.
----3A.1A Failure - Just as we were about to attack the [Name of the faction] group, they did the same, [Name of survivor with the most leadership in the group] got hit first and the rest of us barely had time to react, all we could do was run out the back door (Death/injury to the survivor that was talking to the other group, -respect, no treasure)
----3A.1B Minor Victory - Each of them must have jumped a meter into the air when we burst forth, they didn't hit back, but we didn't hit any of them, they simply moved too fast (no death/injuries, -respect, gets all the treasure)
----3A.1C Total Victory - [Name of survivor with the most leadership in the group] lead the [Name of the faction] guys inside where we popped out like a bunch of jack-in-the-box'es, they didn't have a chance, we hurried home as fast as we could, with all the loot we could carry (no death/injuries, no change in respect, gets all the treasure)
---3A.2 Give them the loot - There is no way we can talk our way out of this one, better just give them the stuff and hope they don't hold a grudge (no death/injuries, small -respect, no treasure)
--3A.2 - Success - They bought our story about how we were out killing zombies, went into the house to take a rest, and found the loot just lying there, now we let's get home before they start thinking about it any more (no death/injuries, no change in respect, gets all the treasure)

Possibility C - We can see the [Name of the faction] scavengers inside, they must be prepering to leave with the loot, should we try to steal it from them?
-1. Attack - Danger - We don't have time to mess around, let's just get in there, hard, fast and brutal, they wont know what hit them.
--1A. Failure - They saw us aproching and as soon as we knocked in the door, they opened fire on us, it was a disaster (high chance of death/injuries, -respect and no treasure)
--1B. Minor Victory - We went in and started attacking everyone that wasn't one of us, they of cause hit back, and as the nearby zombies got atracted by the noise, we had to break up the brawl, we graped a few things a got out of there, the [Name of the faction] is going to remember this one for sure (medium chance of inuries, -respect and only some treasure)
--1C. Total Victory - There was a loud bang as the door hit the floor, we started shooting and smashing skulls upon entry, shortly after, all of the [Name of the faction]'s scavengers was lying on the floor (no death/injuries, no change in respect, gets all the treasure)

Possibility D - We got here too late, the [Name of the faction] scavengers must be halfway back to their fort with the loot by now, there is nothing left for us.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Back Alley Deal" - Only takes place in a "larger" building, such as a mall, hospital, apartment etc. - The [Name of the faction] is talking with some small gang, we haven't heard about before, about some sort of deal, it must be important, they have agreed to meet them in an alley soon, if we get there in time, we might be able to find out what all this is about.

Possibility A - We have arrived long before the [Name of the faction], we could go talk with the gang and try to find out what the deal is, maybe even convice them into selling what ever they got, to us instead of [Name of the faction], or, if we are quiet enough, we could try to steal what ever they aren't carrying without them noticing. We could also just attack them and take what ever they got, no one is going to miss them, other than the [Name of the faction] who wish to trade with them, or we could kill 2 birds with one bullet and try to set up an ambush for when the [Name of the faction] guys arrive.
-1. Negotiate - Leadership skill - Let's try to find out why this deal needs to be so secrets.
--1A. Faliure - The gang didn't like us showing up, and they showed it with pointing every gun they had at us, I ensured them that we didn't want any trouble and we were about to leave, I saw one of them sneaking after us, making sure we left, there were no chance for use to try again, they would have known. (The deal still takes place)
--1B. Minor Success - They told us they were here to do buisness with someone else (we know they ment the [Name of the faction]), but when we started asking them what they were going to trade, they got cold feet, and while 2 of them kept their eyes and weapons aimed at us, the rest packed their things and they were gone before we could try to talk any more with them (No deal, nothing else happens)
--1C. Success - After ensuring them that we weren't any trouble,we started talking about what both we and they were doing out here, at some point I started talking how we always are ready to trade with others, and he said that "it just so happend" that they got some supplies for sale, but when he said that we could have them for 1 slaves, I got worried, it's a lot of stuff, but is it really worth the freedom and life of a person? maybe we could get them to trade them for something more material.
---1C.1. Buy the supplies for one of your people from the group. (-happiness and you lose the person you trade, but get the supplies)
---1C.2. Offer 100 food - Leadership 9 - All the members of the gang look a bit too skinny, so maybe we can buy the supplies for food instead (You buy the supplies for 100 food)
---1C.3. Offer 25 Medicine - Leadership 9 - They aren't looking too healthy, one of them looks like he got some sort of fever an the rest have been coughing and sneezing since we came, maybe a bunch of medicine would be worth more than a person (You buy the supplies for 25 Medicine)
---1C.4. Offer 25 Bath Salt (only if you got it) - I could see a glass of bathsalt in each of each of their pockets, offering them some should wake their intrest (You buy the supplies for 25 Bath Salt)
---1C.5. Don't buy - We decided nothing was worth more than one of us, and we had to leave before the [Name of the faction] showed up, it only be trouble if they found out that we were trying to cut into their business (The other faction still does the deal, but no respect lost)
-2. Steal the wares - They are more on the look out for zombies and their business partners, that they are looking at their goods, if we sneak around them, we should be able to steal their stuff before the [Name of the faction] guys arrive.
--2A. Failure - We got all the way to the crates, but one of the guards just had to turn around, spotting us, he of cause started firing and we had to run for it, [Name of a random person in the group] got hit in the shoulder, but should be ok after a she gets patched up (The deal happens, and the random survivor gets injured)
--2B. Success - We moved all the crates as fast as we could without making a sound, as we were carrying the crates home, we could hear gunshots coming from the place, the [Name of the faction] must have arrived, and when they saw there wasn't any wares to trade, they properly thought the gang had doublecrossed them and opened fire, we got the goods and they got the problems (No death/injuries, no deal, and you got all the supplies)[/color
-3. Attack the gang - Danger - Lets rid the world of this scum and take whatever they got.
--3A. Failure - The gang had positioned people on the nearby rooftops, and when we tried to rush in, they had spotted us and were ready to shoot [color=#C11B17](high chance for death/injuries, the deal happens)

--3B. Minor Victory - We sneaked as close as we could, just before we jumped the gangmembers, one of them started to panic and sprayed his hole magazine in random directions, killing 2 of his buddies and wounding [Name of a random survivor in the group], to make matter worse, the gunfire had attracted a lot of zombies, and all we could do was grap what we could carry and get the hell out of there (1 injured, no deal, gets half of the supplies)
--3C. Total Victory - At least one of the people in the group must have the Ninja perk - We neared us the gangmembers like shadows, and killed them all in one fast strike, [Name of a random survivor without the ninja perk] must have taken it to heart, for rest of the day he/she tried to act like one of those ninja's you saw in movies, it might be annoying, but at least she learned something today. (No death/injuries, no deal, you get the supplies and one of your survivors gets the Ninja perk (if all members of the group has the perk, the message will still appear with a random name)
-4. Set up an ambush - If we hide and wait for the [Name of the faction] to arive, we can suprise them while doing the deal, and make sure none of them being a problem any more.
--4A. Failure - The gang heard us as we were moving into positions, and before we knew of it, they had packed their things and send a flare into the sky, it must have been a signal to the [Name of the faction], for they never showed up (no deal, nothing else happens)
--4B. Minor Victory - We hid all around the meeting place, when the [Name of the faction] arrived and started to talk with the leader of the gang, we burst forth and did what we could before they knew what happend, but we made far too much noise and were far from fast enough, both the gang and the [Name of the faction] fought back, and not long after, the nearby zombies were starting to swarm us, we had to run for it, but we were gone before the zombies arrived, and by the sound of it, the others were not (chance of death/injuries, no deal, no suplies, -respect with the faction)
--4C. Total Victory - Just as the gang leader and the spokesman for the [Name of the faction] shook hands on the deal, we burst in and crashed the party, not one of them was left standing when we were done, except one, who were not a member either of the groups, he/she told us he/she was a member of the [Name of an other faction] and the [Name of the faction] had captured him/her and it was normal for some of the factions to use slaves to buy supplies from the gangs. We could let him/her go, or we could ask him/her to join us, he/she owe us, we did save his/her life, after all. (No deal, no change in respect, you get the supplies and a chance for either respect with and other faction, or a new member)
---4C.1. Let him/her go - We have no use for him/her, so we might as well set him/her free. He/she promised to tell everyone in his/her faction about our heroic rescue (+respect with the faction he/she is a member of)
---4C.2. Recruit him/her - Leadership 6 - We told him/her that it would be better for him/her to join us, that we would be able to protect him/her better than the faction she came from, and that she owed us for saving his/her life. He/she agreed and started helping loading the newly aquire supplies for the transport home (No respect change, but +1 new survivor, with a "former faction member" perk)

Possibility B - We are almost where the deal is going to happen, we can here people talking, it must be the gang and the guys from the [Name of the faction], if we hurry,if we still wish to interrupt the trade, we will have to crash the party in a frontal attack, there isn't time for anything else, or we could just leave.
-1. Attack - High Danger - There is nothing else to do, a full frontal attack while they are focused on each other, but we must be able to something to gain an advantage.
--1.1 Use a molotov - I always got a bottle with petroleum in my pocket, this would be a good time to use it (-2 fuel, less danger, but no recruit (you accidentally hit him/her, no matter what)
---1.1A I threw the molotov in the middle of the gang leader and the guy from the [Name of the faction], a few others go caught in the flames too, as the rest looked in terror at the burning guys, we swooped in an took them down.
--1.2 Use Zombie Bait - We got a piece of bait with us, you know, just in case, if we threw in the middle of everything, the nearby zombies would cause even more chaos, but we will have change it to a quick hit-grab-run instead (-1 zombie bait, a bit less danger, but no recruit and only half the supplies)
--1.2A. We lured some nearby zombies into following us, we then ran in and threw the bait in the face of the gang leader bashed and shoved our way to the crates, graped what we could and made our way through the closest building, while we could hear the gang and the [Name of the faction] strating to fight the newly arrived zombies, they aren't going to be too happy with us, if they survive (low-medium danger, no recruit, only half the supplies)
--1.3 Just Attack - We dont need to use anything, we can take them, all we have to do is hit them fast and hard enough.
---1.3A. Failure - We made far too much noise when we charged in, they had far too much time to turn around and jump to cover, why did [Name of a random survivor in the group] also have to let out such a wierd warcry.
---1.3B. Minor Victory - We rushed in as fast as we could and started hitting everyone else, the gang and [Name of the faction] member that was closest to hte supplies realiced that this wasn't going to go well, they grabed what they could an hightailed it out of there, when we were done with others, they were long gone with half of the stuff, only one was left behind, he/she was strangely enough tied to a nearby pole, he/she told us that he/she was a member of the [Name of an other faction] and the [Name of the faction] had captured him/her and it was normal for some of the factions to use slaves to buy supplies from the gangs. We could let him/her go, or we could ask him/her to join us, he/she owe us, we did save his/her life, after all (No deal, -respect, you get the supplies and a chance for either respect with and other faction, or a new member)
---1.3C Total Victory - It told half of us to go around to the left, while we attacked from the right, the result was staggering, it barely too a minute to win the fight, the gang leader still had a surprised look on his face, when he hit the ground, as we walk over to the supply crates, we saw a man/woman tied to a pole, next to the crates As we help him/her, he/she told us, that he/she was a member of the [Name of an other faction] and the [Name of the faction] had captured him/her and it was normal for some of the factions to use slaves to buy supplies from the gangs. We could let him/her go, or we could ask him/her to join us, he/she owe us, we did save his/her life, after all (No deal, no change in respect, you get the supplies and a chance for either respect with and other faction, or a new member)
----1.3B+C. Let him/her go - We have no use for him/her, so we might as well set him/her free. He/she promised to tell everyone in his/her faction about our heroic rescue (+respect with the faction he/she is a member of)
----1.3B+C Recruit him/her - Leadership 6 - We told him/her that it would be better for him/her to join us, that we would be able to protect him/her better than the faction she came from, and that she owed us for saving his/her life. He/she agreed and started helping loading the newly aquire supplies for the transport home (No respect change, but +1 new survivor, with a "former faction member" perk)
Possibility C - We are too late, both the gang and the guys from the [Name of an other faction] is long gone, I still wonder what kind of trade they were doing (the deal went down, nothing else)

Each faction can and can't "host" the different missions, depending on what it is.
Fx. the Pharmacists dosen't "host" the "Back Alley Deal" mission, since they have no need to sell slaves to the gang, since the gang is most likely planing to somehow sell the slave for Bath Salt.
And others have a higher chance to "host" certain missions
Fx. the Riff and the Last Judgement Gang is more offensive minded, so there is a bigger chance they they are going to "host" a "Plan of Attack" mission.

I might add more if I get more ideas, please let me know what you think of therse.

Return to Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville
